Classics does not get old? You are joking, some educated spectator would say after watching two premieres of state theatres presented in Lithuania this autumn. The theatrical season started as usual this year – with time-tested classical works staged on big stages by well-known directors of elder generation: performance of Jonas Vaitkus “King Lear” presented at the Lithuanian Russian Drama Theatre and performance “Barbora” of Jonas Jurašas at the National Kaunas Drama Theatre.

Promises make a good supplement to food. They may be of different consistence, colour and flavour. They may grant exceptional qualities to food and may spoil it. What does it have in common with sauce? The word sauce was used as a joke before the premiere of the performance “Promise at Dawn at Kaunas National Drama Theatre on October 4 and 5. Even the reading of the novel “Promise at Dawn” of Romain Gary did not help to forget the joke. Still, after watching the performance no thoughts about gravies remained.
Behind the door of “The Dream” – new generation of theatre creators 2014-10-03
The premiere of the performance “The Dream” created by the young theatre creators’ generation on the motifs of the play of A.Strindberg was presented at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre on September 22. The performance directed by Kamilė Gudmonaitė featured 3rd year students of direction course of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre supervised by Doc. Gintaras Varnas.

The review of the book compiled by Svajūnas Sabaliauskas “Rūta Staliliūnaitė. I am Barbora. Recollections about the Queen of Stage” (Obuolys Publishing House) is presented. As the book consists of memories about the late actress, memories can hardly be reviewed, the author marks. And the book is as valuable as people who remember Rūta in their stories are interesting.
“Cosmos +” = theatre + science 2014-06-13
A special premiere was presented in Vilnius – the joint work of the Danish group Hotel Pro Forma and Lithuanian National Drama Theatre “Cosmos+”. The author has heard a lot about the Danish theatre Hotel Pro Forma and video recordings of its performance have left an impression on her. Also, the theme of cosmos explored in the performance intrigued due to the personal interest in secrets of cosmos. The exceptional cosmic reality was created on the stage by the founder of the theatre Hotel Pro Forma, director Kirsten Dehlholm.
