The actor of Kaunas State Puppet Theatre Valdis Aleksaitis (1960 04 05 – 2010 06 17) died after a serious illness at the age of 50 on the 17th of June, 2010. It is a huge loss to Kaunas Puppet Theatre as well as the community of professional puppeteers and contemporary Lithuanian theatre.

V.Aleksaitis worked at Kaunas Puppet Theatre from 1981 to his death and was one of the most outstanding actors of this stage. He has created dozens of memorable roles and has raised several generations of the small spectators. Valdis participated in many international festivals of puppet theatres with his performances.

In 1983 V.Aleksaitis graduated from Vilnius Culture School. From 1996 he studied in the specialty of a puppet theatre director at Leningrad Theatre, Music and Cinema Art Institute. V.Aleksaitis was also active as a director, announcer and organiser of events at Kaunas Puppet Theatre.

V.Aleksaitis died in Kaunas on the 17th of June, 2010. He is buried in Kaunas Petrašiūnai Cemetery.
