Prepared by Eglė Valionytė

Purity of idea, harmony, poetic flight and depth – these are the most important categories in creation of the graphic artist Romualdas Čarna. The endless layers of nature, culture and history are the sources of creation for the artist. Layers of music, poetry and theatre intertwine in graphic plates of R. Čarna. The most diverse types and characters: from mythical creatures to harlequins may be found in his works.

This year was very creative for the painter Aušra Vaitkūnienė (b. 1962): the author organised four solo shows, received The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, INC stipend and is preparing the painting catalogue of the latter years. At the moment one of her exhibitions “Night and Day” is open in Kaunas, and this exposition should not remain unnoticed.

Pioneer of Egyptology M.Rudzinskaitė-Arcimavičienė. Signs of Egypt in Lithuanian art 2013-10-21

Marius Vyšniauskas

The contribution of Marija Rudzinskaitė-Arcimavičienė (1885 – 1941) into the forming Egyptology of Lithuania is rather marked. This scientist is often called “the pioneer of Egyptology” as she introduced the Eastern culture to Lithuanians in the 20th century. After her death no one appeared who could have continued the started work consistently. On the one hand this was determined by political circumstances, on another hand – by the lack of interest of the public.

Miglė Munderzbakaitė

The segregated, outcasts or one of the composite parts of Kaunas Biennial Unitext? An equal exhibition, only in different space, or shadow of the grand competitive exhibition at M.Žilinskas Gallery?
