In brief: The exhibition Kazimieras Stabrauskas - the teacher of M. K. Čiurlionis aims to show how K. Stabrauskas is special and meaningful when it comes to M. K. Čiurlionis oeuvre. Without a doubt, these two artists should be treated as individuals, but we can also look for links and similarities in their works. Only, is it really necessary?

Through the symbolist aesthetics artists seeks to explore new various philosophical ideas that change, i.e. ranging from the existential to the quests of death. On the other hand, student M. K. Čiurlionis was also an inspirer and a good friend to K. Stabrauskas. Student's work was also affected by the teacher’s worldview and aesthetics, symbols and even images.

One of the K. Stabrauskas creative interests where his travel impressions that show how artist is interested not so much in his own, but rather in the enigmatic and unknown places. The artist perceives the Eastern culture and philosophy as a source of wisdom and harmony, which he is looking for and also seeking.

The subtle expression of the artist varies from reality to the mood of fantastic elements. It is the strongest part of K. Stabrauskas works. It is through the harmony of reality and fiction that the symbolist aesthetics and philosophy gain advantage. This creates a contrast - an extra-individual image - between moments from the travels, landscapes and various still lifes This time, it is focused on fiction and magic, the existence of an individual is contemplated; it is chosen to create a dual image in the space of the image in order to mislead the viewer.

Interestingly, K. Stabrauskas works are based on contrasts. It is quite difficult for the visitor of the exhibition to grasp the polysemous paintings of the artist, which range from landscapes and still lifes to portraits.
