Of memory and imagination. “Museum” by Dainius Liškevičius 2
In Brief: Book reader, like a “Museum” visitor gradually submerges into reality created by artifacts of memory in such way that after coming out of it he is able to realize that he has just been in a space of timeless stories.
First of all, Dainius Liškevičius “Museum” appeared as an exhibition in a pavilion specially designed for it – a museum within a museum, in The National Art Gallery in 2012. Several works related to a project where were displayed in Vilnius Contemporary Art Center, later on the whole project as exhibited in Contemporary Art Gallery in Leipzig. At the end of 2013 a book-catalog “Museum” was published where the visual material from the exhibition is complemented with texts of the author himself and art historians. This book, which is a parallel work of art accompanying the exhibition is what inspired this text.
