The talented Kaunas painter Alfredas Šatas (1948-2014) died on November 25, 2014. The artist is buried at Kaunas Petrašiūnai Cemetery.
Born on October 6, 1948, in Kaunas, A. Šatas graduated from Juozas Naujalis Evening Art School in 1969, continued studies in Kaunas Evening Department of Vilnius Art Institute; still, he studied textile instead of painting. Only in the fifth year of studies he started attending Vilnius Art Institute and completed the studies in 1978.
The jubilee exhibition of paintings and drawings of A. Šatas “Creation is Life to Me” was organised at Kaunas Picture Gallery in 2008 for the first time. It revealed the artist fully.
A. Šatas, Arvydas Pakalka, Vaidotas Žukas were among the leaders of Lithuanian art of the ninth decade according to art critics.
