The very end of the oratorio appeared unexpected: views of nature shown in video installations were replaced by text, and the soloists and the composer encouraged everybody to stand up and sing along. This sounded as a chant in unison. Perhaps somebody was moved by the feeling of unity, while others could have sarcastic or ironic thoughts as though they sang a hymn of some distant country.
In brief: One could enjoy a real puzzle of operas, symphony and popular music compositions at Kaunas State Philharmonic Hall on the 20th of December. The symphony drama "Opera Impossibile" was presented by Gintaras Rinkevičius and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. Famous opera characters were embodied by soloists Lauryna Bendžiūnaitė (soprano), Ieva Prudnikovaitė (mezzo soprano), Rafailas Karpis (tenor) and Vladimiras Prudnikovas (bass) that evening.
Pathos and logos, yin and yang, femininity and masculinity, anima and animus. Many similar contrasting images exist in various cultures. By the way, they are not only opposed but constantly compared with each other. The vocal cycles of Robert Schumann “Woman's Love and Life” and “Poet's Love” may be attributed to them in a certain way. These cycles were performed at Kaunas Artists' House.
