In brief: It is not a book that will let you enjoy the consumer-orientated feeling of reading. It will award you with new experience: mass culture is not derogated; it is being played with its symbols. Triviality and daily routine are harmonised with poetry. Language is not only a means of communication; it is a way of experimentation (the poet’s game with language reminds of avangardistic searches for the tetra-winders).
One should say that the works Č.Lukenskas with their positive and negative features do not let the complicated, deep Kaunas art that leaves traces and scars die. Winners of the competition “Young Painter’s Prize'09” were announced at Vilnius Pamėnkalnis gallery on the evening of the 29th of October. He was granted LTL 7 000 prize and was provided the possibility to organise a one-man exhibition at Pamėnkalnis gallery in 2010.
Kaunas art biennial should create background for renewing cultural activity and invite like-minded people to discuss about culture of citizens. It should rally people of art and culture, awaken cultural life and let everyone share experience of other fields. The biennial “Textile’09” of this year tried to do this. However, is “Textile’09” the only that is capable/should/must do this?
The usual digital print and creation of a view on a computer screen really causes the lack of more diverse feelings. One of such feelings is touching. Therefore, it is evident that digital technologies are not powerful enough to push out the live drawing from the stage of contemporary art that enables the viewer to recognise the authentic stroke of an artist’s pencil, pen or line in ink.
