Violeta Šoblinskaitė was born in Mažeikiai On September 2, 1954. She studied the German language and literature at Vilnius University and worked for Šiauliai newspaper "Raudonoji Vėliava", for Kaunas weekly "Nemunas", later – as an editor of "Eridanas" publishing house. She published her texts in “Kauno diena“ and other Lithuanian media resources. She spends much time for translations. Šoblinskaitė is a member of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union from 1994. She also belongs to Kaunas Writers’ Guild. Presently she lives in Veliuona.
