Leonas Strioga was born in Medžiočiai village Anykščiai region on February 1, 1930. He is a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union since 1959, winner of the National prize (2001), the most memorable artist of Kaunas of 2001.
L. Strioga graduated from Ukmergė evening gymnasium in 1950. In 1950 – 1952 he studied at the LSSR State Art Institute, Faculty of Sculpture, in Vilnius. In 1952 he entered I.Repin’s Art Institute in Saint Petersburg (Russia) from which he graduated in 1958 and obtained the specialty of a sculptor. The name of an honourable artist was granted to him in1980.

Creative works
L. Strioga creates portraits, compositions of figures, decorative sculptures, small plastics. Creating work sculptures, he uses unique chopping technique.
The list of works includes about 1000 sculptures. Works have been purchased by Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Polish, Russian art museums and private persons in the USA, Germany, France, Denmark, etc.
He has been participating in exhibitions since 1958. He has organised 41 personal exhibitions and 10 joint exhibitions with other artists, participated in 135 group exhibitions.
