Gintaras Česonis was born in Kaunas on October 30, 1974. From 1989 to 1992 he studied at the Pupils Photography School of the Lithuanian Association of Art Photographers in Kaunas. In 1992–1996 he studied at Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University, Faculty of Arts. From 1997 to 1998 Česonis studied photography at the National School of Photography in Arles, France. He finished the Master studies at VMU in 1996–1999. From 1999 he is a lecturer in the Inter-disciplinary Art Studio at Kaunas Art Institute of Vilnius Art Academy (docent). From 1993 Česonis is a member of the Lithuanian Union of Art Photographers. From 2009 he is the Chairman of the Lithuanian Union of Art Photographers, Kaunas Branch.
