Eugenijus Varkulevičius was born in Kaunas on June 25, 1956.
Biography
1967 - 1975 J.Naujalis Art School
1975 – 1981 Vilnius Art Institute
Has been participating in exhibitions since 1983.
In 1982 - 1983 he studied Teofanas Graikas, copied frescos of the 13th century.
In 1983 he lived in Dovainonys, Beržoras, later in Šarnelė. He studied Lithuanian folk painting, restored stations (the Cross Road).
In 1990 he left for Hamburg and organised an exhibition at Am Michel Gallery.
In 1990 – 1994 he lived and worked in Berlin.
In 1994 - 2005 he lived and worked in New York. Artist in residence (Anthology Film Archives). He created, was filmed in experimental films, participated in exhibitions, happenings, festivals, created music for J. Mekas, Julius Ziz films. J. Mekas, D. Naujokaitis and he founded a band Music on the 2nd Street. He illustrated J. Mekas’ books “My Nights” “Words and Letters”.
From 2005 he lives and works in Kaunas.
