Gytis Bernardas Padegimas was born in Kaunas on the 17th of February, 1952. In 1975 he graduated from the theatre direction studies at A. Lunacharsky Theatre Art Institute in Moscow. In 1975–80 he worked as an artistic director at Vilnius Youth Theatre, between 1980–86 – as an artistic director at Kaunas Drama Theatre, in 1988–93 – principal artistic director of Šiauliai Drama Theatre. In 1993–99 he worked as the General Manager of Kaunas State Academic Drama Theatre. G.Padegimas was a lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, in Denmark, at Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University. Presently he is a lecturer of Klaipėda University.
