In brief: “I love it when you trip, mix people, words, trees, Schubert and Schumann, hand and leg, rhinoceros and behemoths, I love it when you fail to make food, when you burn pots, lose buttons, break glasses, lose scissors and forget pin-codes <...>”, the poet Kęstutis Navakas addresses the siren that lolls one to death in his newest book of letters “Lorelei”. A thought appears that it could be the ode to literature itself rather than a woman while reading the book. In the interview the poet and writer speaks about his newest book, its idea and ways of reading it.

The untraditional form of a book was chosen – the designer of the book Sigutė Chlebinskaitė offered an original idea to form the book of separate numbered pages which the reader has to unfold before reading, like letters.

According to K.Navakas, the book published as a selection of separate letters returns the forgotten feeling of a paper letter to us. “It is not the entity of content, idea or information, it is a thing one can keep at one’s bed, take it from the envelope, unfold and to read. A lovely and very necessary ritual.”
