Dovilė Zelčiūtė was born in Kaunas, on April 30, 1959. In 1986 she graduated from Vilnius University, Kaunas Humanitarian Faculty, the specialty of the Lithuanian language and literature. Zelčiūtė worked as a teacher and cooperated at TV "Kaunas Plus". She publishes her creative works in the Lithuanian press. She worked at the editor’s office of the weekly “Nemunas”. From 2002 she has been organising the series of public conversations with artists “Stairs” at Kaunas Artists’ House. She became more known and recognised after the selection of poems “Back to Water”. She has been a member of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union since 1999.
