In brief: E. Darulis painting is dominated by a consistent search for details. It is not specification - structural models and their interactions are examined and visually conveyed. His works tell a story of how the primitive forms become complex organisms.

Returning to the origins is important for the author, as well as the exposure of the biological self. The main form for E. Darulis is a circle and a tail. With this composition he appeals to the brain silhouette, which is extended by the spinal twine to a sprouted grain, a bud a formation or a zygote... On the other hand, this shape is very similar to a stylized Jew's harp - an instrument professionally played by the artist.

Artist is looking for the geometrical starting point in the organic shapes by enlarging the little-known microcosm and shedding light on it. It is a kind of symbiosis of art and biological sciences. The concept of the main form is often associated with strong lines, but, according to E. Darulis, geometry is every existing form's opportunity to be depicted in a specific order on a plane. Paintings are not about the mathematical or architectural forms, but about the structure of organisms - the starting point, from which everything arises. Grain, brain, spermatozoon - three images illustrating this motif. These are the rudiments of nature, human being and a thought. This concept can be seen best in his van Gogh-like work of surreal coloring "The main form."

His painting represents clear allegories of life and death: seeds, vegetables, embryos, roots. All that - the beginning of life, the natural given. Putridity, leaves - is like the end, death returning back to the beginning. It is a thin line between what appears, what thrives and what disappears. Depicted cycles do not refer to the cyclical - their repetitions happens more in a notional field than in a field of narrative. E. Darulis aims to show a natural organic whole of nature, where all the forms melt into the mechanism that forms the phenomenon of life. Maybe that is why his exhibition "Pulse" is visually solid.

E. Darulis says that there is no "bad art" or "bad painting" - all that is a relative understanding of contrasts, forms, art and music. It is a chain state, affected by the principle, which determines the end... With his work "Born in the village manure" E. Darulis emphasized that there is no bad place for life to emerge.

Although, according to the author, you should not look for psychoanalysis and the problems of society in his works, he still forces you to think about the social being, human's relationship to the nature by raising the affinity aspect of primitive forms. If we look at his works from a psychoanalytical point of view, we could probably draw upon a Freudian perspective. Not rejecting the idea that creation - the contents of the unconscious, expressed in a visual form, without knowing if it was done consciously or not, E. Darulis chooses an open style to convey the topics of life and nature, in which sexual connotations could be found. Artist ironically marvels at the position attributed to him - after all, there is no naked reality, only a bare principle and its transformations.
