In brief: The road of every new architecture and city planning project to the city is like a constant attempt to raise the city from chaos. It is typical to considerations of projects of Kaunas Architecture and Urbanism Experts’ Council (KAUET) in Kaunas old town and industrial quarter.

The following projects were considered on the 10th of June:

1. Building of educational purpose at A. Jakšto Str. 6. Façade offers. Stage of the technical project. Designer - Sava Erdvė UAB, arch. G.Stanislovaitis. Customer – Lithuanian Kolping Fund. Repeated consideration.

2. Building of trade purpose at Pramonės Ave. 6. (Project offers. Designer - Jungtinės Architektų Dirbtuvės UAB, architects T.Paulauskas, D.Čepurna. Customer - SSPC-Pramonė UAB).

The meeting was chaired by Vygintas Merkevičius.

Jakšto Str. 6. Variant I

The material was considered for the third time in the meeting. After statements of experts, the decision was passed to approve of the development of the first variant of facade offers taking into regard experts’ recommendations:

1.1. To refuse the pediment in A.Jakšto Street (6 experts).
1.2. The firewall is not necessary as the designed building should have a visual relation with the buildings in the perspective (4 experts).
1.3. The colours are too grim (4 experts).
1.4. The solution of connection of the roof and the wall hiding the rain pipe is doubtful (3 experts).
1.5. It is recommended to use more modern materials (3 experts).
1.6. The distribution of openings in the facades should be improved (2 experts).
1.7. The building should be rather modest (2 experts).

The object is presented as the customers want to change the construction line of Pramonės Ave. The commercial territory is being developed, where a retail park could appear.

The designed retail park is developed in three stages: the trade building with the main food operator is constructed instead of the logistic centre. The new shopping centre and present Senukai shopping centre will be united into one retail park by new commercial premises. It is also planned to build a high-rise building after changing the detailed plan here.

After expressing their opinions, the experts came to a conclusion that the new construction line close to Pramonės Ave. should not be approved of. The construction line could be formed taking into regard the traffic flow of the main street, throughput parameters, surrounding constructions. Meanwhile, the architectural solutions (Variant III) should be approved of.

The following notices of experts should be taken into regard in the further work:
2.1. The space of Pramonės Ave. should be preserved, and the newly formed construction line should not be followed (8 experts).
2.2. The place of the high-rise building should be close to the crossing of Pramonės Ave. and Draugystės Street (7 experts).
2.3. The transportation scheme should be reviewed and the analysis of traffic flows should be made (5 experts).
2.4. The construction line should be equal to NIC building (4 experts).
2.5. It is offered to turn Senukai office into a high-rise building (4 experts).
2.6. A thought should be taken about the formation of construction line in Draugystės Street (3 experts).
