In brief: The 18th congress and festival of the International Association of Theaters for Children and Young People ASSITEJ took place in Warsaw on May 23–31. Impressions from the congress and thoughts about the international ASSITEJ festival which will be held in Kaunas in December are shared by the managing secretary of the Lithuanian Association of Theatres for Children and Young People ASITEŽAS and actress of the troupe Teatriukas Dalia Mikoliūnaitė and the head of Stalo Teatras Saulė Degutytė.

From impressions of Dalia Mikoliūnaitė: “Many diverse events took place in the capital of Poland: about 70 performances were shown, about 100 creative laboratories, discussions, forums were organised, richer countries (e.g., Austria, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Asian countries) organised introductory evenings. We brought back many information publications, albums of other theatres. Still, we appeared very modest with our postcards of performances.”

From impression of Saulė Degutytė: “Colleagues shared various experiences in the congress. I participated in such serious meeting of people who loved theatre for children and served for it for the first time. Meanwhile, we as still sighing in Lithuania that something should be done that theatre for children would establish as a full-rate part of culture. Even colleague actors sometimes ask whether we will stage a normal premiere or a performance for children.” Also, according to her, participants of the congress paid attention to the fact that there could be more performances for teenagers in the world (and Lithuania).
