Mindaugas Kavaliauskas was born in Kaunas on October 6, 1974. In 1989-92 he studied at Kaunas Photography School for Pupils under the Lithuanian Union of Art Photographers. In 1992-96 and in 1998-2000 he studied at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, where he obtained the art critic‘s specialty (Master‘s degree). In 1997-98 he studied photography at the French National School of Photography in Arles, in 1998 – at the National Higher School of Arts in Paris, in 2000-01 – at Laussane University in Switzerland. From 1993 he is a member of the Lithuanian Union of Art Photographers. In 2001-06 he lectured photography at Kaunas University of Technology. Mindaugas Kavaliauskas is the organiser and curator of the first Lithuanian photography festival Kaunas Photo. From 2004 he is the head of the photography art gallery F in Kaunas.
