The actress Rūta Staliliūnaitė was born in Šiauliai on January 21, 1938. In 1953-1956 she studied at Krakės Secondary School, Kėdainiai region, in 1956-1959 – at Kaunas J.Gruodis Music School, in 1959 - 1963 – at the Lithuanian State Conservatory, Faculty of Actor’s Art.

In 1963 -1993 R. Staliliūnaitė was the actress of Kaunas State Drama Theatre (KSDT). The creative biography of Rūta Staliliūnaitė is marked with dozens of roles among which the majority are main roles that have become bright marks in the history of the Lithuanian theatre.

From 1993 she left Kaunas State Drama Theatre, the only theatre in her life, at her own wish and started creating literature reading programmes, organising poetry evenings, participating in joint literature and music projects.

R.Staliliūnaitė died after a hard disease at the age of 73 on the 9th of May, 2011.
